Projects / Residential / Tatuibi Farm House
The Tatuibi Farm House, located in the Ribeirão Preto region, in the northeast of the state of São Paulo, is undergoing a process of modernization and renovation to optimize its uses and spaces, improve energy efficiency, and expand the living area for the family that has been gathering at the main house on weekends and special dates for decades. This project, the first step in the renovation process, created a leisure area for the main residence, with planned goals and actions to transform the family’s communal life.
The house, an early 20th-century construction, is undergoing careful restoration and an interior design project aimed at preserving the period architecture—an eclectic style curiously adorned with lambrequins (typical of the architecture from southern Brazil). The renovation of the existing wooden porch, which was previously separated from the garden by a blank masonry gable wall, enabled the creation of a new built axis for leisure and relaxation, used by the family especially on weekends for parties and gatherings. The implementation of a new rainwater harvesting system, using grates, optimizes water usage and improves the natural drainage conditions of the soil.
The centerpiece of the leisure area renovation is the swimming pool, which aims not only to extend the gathering space beyond the porch but also to serve as a landmark in the landscape. Situated at the top of a slope, the pool is sheltered by old, very tall trees, offering a view of a preserved small woodland. A sunken dry spa area, protected from the regional winds, creates an additional space adjacent to the pool, offering greater intimacy and shelter.
With the implementation of these changes, the expectation is to create a microclimate, contributing to the family’s sense of belonging, their collective memory, and the memories that will be passed down from generation to generation.
